How to use the export option

Silk lets you download your data via the settings page. Most users find that Silks are easier to update if you work from a spreadsheet or sync with a Google Sheet.

To export the data and content of your Silk:

  1. Go to Dashboard and then Settings
  2. Scroll all the way down and click the Export Silk button
  3. Open the email and hit click here to download
  4. Click the Download button on the web page that opens
  5. Unzip the zip file if needed, and explore your data.

See screenshots of each step below.

How the data is structured#

  • The collections folder contains a spreadsheet in CSV format for each collection in your Silk. You can edit this and reimport it.
  • The files folder contains a copy of all uploaded images and files
  • The pages folder contains a copy of all datacards and pages in XML format
  • The file taglist.json holds a list of tags used in JSON format
